When I first entered college I possessed the notion that research was something done with test tubes and beakers in the back of a laboratory, but Brown's work shows that in-depth research can apply to anyone, inside or outside of academia. I find it fascinating that someone can conduct research centered on human topics such as shame, vulnerability, connection, and happiness. I picked up Daring Greatly after watching Brene Brown's amazing TED Talk on the power of vulnerability.
